Laser Scar Revision in Tampa Bay
Scars are often a result of injury or surgical procedures. At Eyelid Surgeons of Tampa Bay, we offer laser scar revision to help patients in St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Tampa, FL and the world, eliminate these scars and improve the skin’s appearance.
What is Laser Scar Revision?
Laser scar revision is a laser treatment used to reduce the appearance of scars. Scars may be a result of injury or surgical treatment. Oftentimes, they are raised and have a rough or discolored appearance. For many, these scars become a source of self-consciousness.
At Eyelid Surgeons of Tampa Bay, we specialize in laser scar revision with a CO2 fractional laser. With this treatment, we can exfoliate the scarred skin while stimulating collagen production to diminish a scar’s appearance and enhance the skin.
Am I A Good Candidate for Laser Scar Revision?
If you have a scar that you would like to make smaller or otherwise less noticeable, you may be a good candidate for laser scar revision. However, the best way to determine if you are a suitable candidate for laser scar revision is to schedule a personal consultation with Dr. Mohadjer.
During your consultation, you and Dr. Mohadjer will discuss your cosmetic goals in order to determine if laser scar revision is a good fit for you. At this point, we will be able to help you schedule your treatment or find a suitable alternative.
What is the Laser Scar Revision Treatment Like?
Your laser scar revision treatment will typically begin with the application of a cooling gel to the treatment area. This will minimize any discomfort that may be caused by the laser energy. Then, a handheld laser device will be used to carefully exfoliate the scar while stimulating collagen production deep within the skin. This process may take up to an hour, depending on the size of the scar being treated.
What is the Laser Scar Revision Recovery Process Like?
After laser scar revision, you can expect the skin to be red and sensitive, much like the effects of a sunburn. The treatment area may also be slightly swollen. These effects typically fade within a few days, and the skin should be fully healed within a week or two. Since scars are often localized concerns, patients are typically able to return to all normal activities immediately following their treatment.
What Kind of Results Can I Expect from Laser Scar Revision?
After laser scar revision, you can expect to notice a reduction in the appearance of the treated scar as the skin heals. You may not notice significant results right away, which is why we often recommend a series of laser scar revision treatments. The number of treatments needed will depend on the size and location of the scar, but your results will be permanent once they are achieved.
